Napthine Government to fund Waverley’s second ground if elected in November

In a formal announcement to club members at the Grand Final celebrations, Graham Watt MP announced that, if re-elected in November, the Napthine Government will contribute $1.5 million dollars towards Waverley Hockey Club’s second ground.

Graham Watt, the State Member of Parliament for Burwood, was supported by the State Member of Parliament for Waverley, Michael Gidley. Club members were pleased with the announcement but, in the words of Club President Drew Ashton, “…it’s not a done deal yet.” The offer hinges on the November State Election result and the State Opposition has not committed to matching the offer.
